Due Diligence:
ICF carries out extensive research to bring you potential grantees that are legally viable, programmatically effective, and financially stable institutions. ICF’s program staff check all legal grantee documentation of our grantees to ensure that they comply with U.S. tax regulations for international giving; ICF also performs periodic site visits to assess the progress of our grants and nonprofit grantees.
Financial Accountability:
When approving a donor-advised grant, ICF reviews every project budget and financial report, requests receipts for materials and services that were provided for each project and follows up on any discrepancies in financial reporting.
Tax Deductibility:
ICF provides a tax-deductible vehicle for international grantmaking for individual donors, family foundations, corporations and other private foundations. ICF also offers Mexican nationals with U.S. sourced income and/or residency opportunities to give back to their homeland.
Programmatic Expertise:
ICF thoroughly evaluates each proposal as it arrives. We carry out interviews, suggest partnerships that strengthen the project/program, and assist our donors in determining how to measure the results of each grant in question. With previous grantees, we review past proposals and reports to ensure programmatic continuity. Furthermore, throughout the life of a grant, ICF investigates if our grantees are making an impact in the region through site visits, email correspondence, phone interviews, and by checking with our extensive regional network of civic, governmental, and community leaders.
