Additional Benefits

Our Funds
  1. Use your time raising money for your charity with donors in all 50 U.S. states and leave the legal and administrative responsibilities. Via the International Community Foundation, your charity can legally use your "Friends of Fund" to solicit support from U.S. donors in all 50 states.
    1. Most states require that a charity register with the attorney general's office if the charity is active within the state. This process is critical to ensuring that your charity is in full compliance with the state and federal charitable laws.
  2. Save yourselves the hassle of opening an office or hiring staff in the U.S. The International Community Foundation serves as your back-office administrative support, while providing your existing staff 1x1 contact with our team of expert staff in major gifts fundraising, public relations, U.S. tax laws and regulations, and programmatic support in the areas of the environment, health and education.
  3. The International Community Foundation provides the transparency that your donors seek and that U.S. tax laws require. The International Community Foundation serves as your independent conduit for independent oversight and control in your international grantmaking.

The U.S. IRS has ruled that gifts to an organization that serves as a mere conduit, funneling earmarked donations to non-U.S. charities without any independent oversight, are not eligible for the charitable deduction. For this reason, a "Friends of" Fund is not a charitable checking account. Due diligence is required by foundation staff prior to issuing a grant and follow up reporting is required by your organization.
