CI applies innovations in science, economics, policy and community participation to protect the Earth's richest regions of plant and animal diversity in the hotspots, major tropical wilderness areas and key marine ecosystems.

GEA is a private association, formed in 1996, due to the concern of a group of Loreto citizens for the care and protection of the marine resources and ecosystems that have been exhausted and destroyed by uncontrolled human activities.

Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans (Tucson, AZ, U.S.A.)
The Intercultural Center is a nonprofit Natural History Resource Center and Biological Field Station focused on developing and implementing research, conservation and environmental education programs, and materials that enhance the protection of these ecosystems.
· Grant funding for preparation of a bilingual comprehensive resource book on the Upper Gulf of California and Colorado River Delta Biosphere Reserve. $20,000

Investigación y Conservación de Mamiferos Marinos de Ensenada (ICMME) (Ensenada, B.C.S., México)
Founded in 1997, ICMME was established to protect and manage marine mammals and their environment in Mexico's northwest through research and education. ICMME projects include: disentanglement and stranding response to mammals, environmental education, and marine mammal research. The organization's primary objective is to evaluate if a mammal is stranded and to assist it accordingly.
· Grant funding given to assess the diversity, distribution and abundance of cetaceans and to initiate an environmental education programs. $20,000

Founded in 1988, Pro Esteros is a binational grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of the coastal lagoons along the Baja California Peninsula. One of the principal objectives is to achieve equilibrium between development and conservation by means of research and education.

Pro-Peninsula's mission is to strengthen the effectiveness of organizations on the Baja peninsula by establishing links with funding sources, providing technical assistance and organizational development, fostering collaboration, and increasing public awareness of the organizations and the issues they address

PFEA was founded in 1991 by a group of Tijuana professionals and residents out of a concern regarding the growing rate of industrial pollution in the framework of NAFTA. The organization is dedicated to developing a process that generates changes in environmental practices and policies in the region, in order to develop a more sustainable society.
