| The
International Community Foundation (ICF) is celebrating 15
Years of International Philanthropy!

ICF’s gala event on May 14, 2005 – “Celebrating
15 Years of International Giving” – was a tremendous
success.
ICF’s Chairman Leon Reinhart, welcomed over 320 people
to the evening celebration at the San Diego Sheraton Hotel-
Harbor Island benefiting ICF’s Sustainable Communities
Fund. With proceeds from the silent auction, lotería
game, and ticket sales, ICF raised over $60,000 for its programmatic
initiatives in Asia and the Americas.
The Master of Ceremonies, “Mimí” from
the Mexican pop group, Flans, and TV Azteca’s “Cada
Mañana” presented three awards during the evening:
- Sempra Energy as Philanthropist of the Year for its leadership
and commitment along Mexico’s northern border.
- Los Niños del Capitán, A.C. as Grantee of
the Year for providing daycare and healthcare to over 120
children in Cabo San Lucas.
- ICF’s Collaborative Grantmaking Award went to the
688 donors that contributed to the UN Tsunami Disaster Relief
Fund at ICF, which has granted $646,000 to date for immediate
relief and housing construction.
The salsa band, Rico Tumbao, was a welcome addition to the
festivities. Our guests also enjoyed the lotería game
and silent auction, as well as the ICF 15th Anniversary video,
which was produced by ICF donor, Sergio Viñas. The
bountiful flowers were donated by Flor Expo, and were expertly
arranged by Marissa Ferregur, Catalina Suarez, Jeehan Salem,
Sarah Richmond, and Mónica Kiy.
We are grateful to the many corporate and foundation sponsors
that helped underwrite the event, especially our lead reception
sponsor, Sempra Energy. With their support, ICF will be able
to work proactively on behalf of our donors and grantees to
help create lasting programs that improve the quality of life
in communities that we serve.
On behalf of ICF staff, Board of Governors and the Event
Committee, we wish to thank all who attended and volunteered
to make our 15th Anniversary Gala such a success!
