Upcoming Event - Teen International Giving Forum

ICF Project
Date: April 28, 2012
Location: Institute of the Americas, UCSD, La Jolla
Cost: Free (but registration is required)

The International Community Foundation's Youth International Philanthropy Council is hosting the "Teen International Giving Forum" in an effort to engage more San Diego-area teens in becoming more philanthropically engaged internationally.

The event is geared towards high school students who are looking for innovative ideas and projects to support globally in exchange for personal growth and increased cross-cultural awareness, school credit, and strengthening their college applications.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 28th at the Institute of the Americas on the campus of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and will feature key note addresses by two inspiring teen leaders and social change agents: Alec Loorez, founder of Ventura, California based Kids v.s. Global Warming and Talia Leman, CEO and a Founder of Waukee, Iowa based RandomKid. The Teen International Giving Forum will also feature a panel discussion by local youth that have successfully undertaken philanthropic projects in Mexico, including: Morgan Hicks, a Senior from the Bishops Schools and founder of the Youth International Philanthropy Council at the International Community Foundation; Caitlin Hird, a Senior at San Dieguito Academy and founder of the Teens Against Cervical Cancer Fund; and Akash Patel and Ian Torbett, Juniors at Pacific Ridge School and co-project leaders for Project Bus-San Ignacio.

The event will conclude with an informal networking reception where teens can share their ideas with internationally-minded donors and Mexican nonprofit leaders seeking youth volunteers and social entrepreneurs.
