The Parker Foundation
On May 30th, the International Community Foundation moved to its new permanent offices in a remodeled 1,200 square foot home located on a 6.85 acre property in National City, California which also includes the historic Noyes House and a ?acre organic garden. The property, which is also the home of the new International Community Foundation Center, was gifted by Christy Walton, a long-time supporter of the foundation, in an effort to promote expanded binational programs, outreach, dialogue and exchange aimed at fostering healthy, more livable communities in the San Diego-Baja California border region and Baja California peninsula.
The International Community Foundation’s new offices were remodeled at a cost of $140,200 with the support of many of the foundation’s long-standing supporters as well as the leadership of Rick Romney, board member and Chair of the foundation’s Walton Gift Task Force. In an effort to express its sincere appreciation to Christy Walton for her generous gift of her house and garden, and to keep alive the tradition of active civic engagement promoted by Sarah Jane Plummer Noyes, our home’s original owner and former founding member of the Olivewood Women’s Club, a luncheon and garden party was organized on May 31st attended by 50 San Diego area female civic leaders. Some of the attendees included: Chula Vista Mayor, Cheryl Cox; State Assemblywomen Mary Salas, Linda Katz, Lucy Killea, Kate Adams, Mary Clark, Becky Clelland, Mary Correia Moreno, Claire Crane, Iris Engstrand, Wendy Gillespie, Cindy Gompers Graves, Cheryl Hammond, Katherine Kennedy, Linda Kinninger, Judy McDonald, Alejandra Mier y Teran, Anne Otterson, Cindy Olmstead and Deborah Szekely. At the luncheon The foundation's Board Chair, Mary Walshok and President, Richard Kiy shared their collective visions for the foundation’s new permanent headquarters in San Diego’s South County region and their future plans for the International Community Foundation Center which is now legally constituted as a Type I supporting organization of the foundation. In addition to providing office space to the foundation, the new Center will have the following key uses:
In order the fully maximize the public benefit and use of the foundation's new facilities, the International Community Foundation is now in the midst of a fundraising drive to raise an additional $155,000 in support to cover the cost of on site parking and landscaping.
