CAREM, A.C., a Mexicali based nonprofit dedicated to promoting historic preservation throughout the state of Baja California is proud to announce their upcoming Baja California missions’ tour from October 26-30, 2007.  The 5 day, four-night guided lecture-tour of Jesuit, Franciscan and Dominican missions will be conducted by Dr. W. Michael Mathes, internationally recognized authority on Baja California history.

The CAREM mission tour will include lectures on board a fully-equipped first-class bus.  The lecture will cover historic explorations and mapping of Baja California from 6000 BC to 1880. On site lectures will provide details on the missions visited and their regions.  During this mini-course on Baja California, Dr. Mathes will provide ample time for questions and comments.

For the past 10 years, CAREM has served as a support organization for the National Institute of Anthropology and History and other official and academic institutions dedicated to historical preservation in Baja California. Through volunteers, CAREM raises funds to aid these projects, sponsor cultural events and lectures, and maintain a growing research library in city of Tecate, B.C. As a volunteer run non-profit organization, 100% of funds raised go toward these projects. The International Community Foundation serves as a fiscal sponsor for donations from the United States through the Historic Site Preservation Fund for Baja California at ICF.   Join CAREM’s lecture-tour and learn the fascinating past of Baja California while contributing to important projects for its preservation.
