ICF to Co-Host Gala to Promote Expanded Cross-Border Philanthropy September 8th
The International Community
Foundation will co-host its first
binational fundraising gala to
increase charitable giving and
volunteerism benefiting
communities and local nonprofit
organizations with an emphasis in
Baja California.
Co-hosted with its Baja California-based
sister foundation ?
Fundación Internacional de la
Comunidad ?“San Diego-Baja
California: One R e g i o n
Toward a Brighter Future?will
celebrate efforts to expand
regional cross-border philanthropy
in the San Diego-Baja California
border region. Proceeds from the gala
will benefit the International
Community Foundation’s Sustainable
Communities Fund and Fundación
Internacional de la Comunidad.
Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a
dockside VIP reception at the historic
yacht America, which will include
performances by the Mariachi "Mi
México", a 20-member mariachi
collective ranging in ages 9 to 19, and
a group of San Diego high school
students who specialize in regional
Mexican dances. At 7 p.m. the
colorful gala Mercado (marketplace)
will open, offering attendees the
opportunity to sample Latin American
items, participate in a silent auction and
join in the breaking of three festive
piñatas. Dinner will be served at 8 p.m.
in the Point Loma Ballroom, followed
by dancing at 9 p.m.
