International Community Foundation releases In-Kind Giving Guide to facilitate cross-border giving to Mexico

The International Community Foundation, Fundación Internacional de la Comunidad, and Mexican Congressman Carlos Torres, from Tijuana, have compiled a guide to help donors better understand the process for making legal in-kind donations over $300USD to Mexico. With the introduction of the firma electrónica (electronic signature) the process for receiving authorization from the Servicio de Administración Tributaria de México (SAT) in Mexico City has been greatly reduced.

Remembering Foundation Board Member, George Peel Chandler, Jr.

George Peel Chandler, Jr., a committed board member of the International Community Foundation since 2006, passed away at the age of 73.

A man whose career included working as a NASA engineer for some of our country’s most historic space missions and also working locally as a champion of small business development, George was well-known throughout San Diego for his civic involvement, his persistent support for causes he believed in and his ability to motivate others.

Chilcott is a nationally recognized leader in economic and community development and small business finance. For 25 years, he has developed and led innovative and successful organizations and programs in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Under Chilcott’s leadership, the San Diego-headquartered CDC Small Business Finance has experienced extraordinary growth in its offices throughout California, Arizona and Nevada.

Zach Myers recently joined the International Community Foundation from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP where he worked as a corporate and securities attorney. Prior to working as an attorney, Zach was as an accountant and earned his CPA working in the audit department at Deloitte and Touche LLP. Zach also has experience working on Wall Street with several prominent investment banks.

Lian Pasimio volunteered with the International Community Foundation from January to March of 2009, as Assistant to the Director of Operations and Donor Relations. Lian was looking to transition from the corporate world to the nonprofit sector. She was eager get nonprofit experience. As a volunteer, Lian was a tremendous resource to the foundation with her years of experience in the hospitality industry (in Human Resources, Accounting and the Front Desk).
