The International Community Foundation is proud to present Music without Borders, an inspiring week of classical music featuring classical guitarist, Pablo Sainz Villegas. Music Without Borders will be held from April 21 through April 26, 2009.  During this week, our Foundation will partner with Mr. Sainz Villegas to leverage the inspirational power of classical music to raise awareness about and support projects that tackle the environmental and health challenges in the San Diego-Baja California border region.

The week-long event, sponsored by the Sempra Energy Foundation, San Diego Commercial Credit, Neighborhood National Bank, Dreams Do Come True, Bridal Network, Crowne Plaza and The Legacy 4 Life Fund at the International Community Foundation, will kick off with a series of three complimentary concerts at Sweetwater High School, Olivewood Elementary and the MAAC Community Charter School, engaging more than 700 students and members of under-represented communities in National City and Chula Vista.  In addition, a master class in classical guitar will also be offered to low-income students at the MAAC Community Charter School currently taking guitar lessons.

At the conclusion of the week, the International Community Foundation will host a benefit concert on Sunday, April 26, beginning at noon, at our foundation’s headquarters at the historic Noyes House in National City. We hope that you can join us.  Tickets are $125 per person and may be purchased by contacting Julieta Mendez at (619) 336-2254 or online at: http://www.icfdn.org/events/musicwithoutborders/index.php

A delightful selection of hors d'oeuvres, dessert and refreshments will be served thanks to the generous sponsorship of Tavola Romantica, Monsoon, Rotisserie Affair, SOAR (Sushi On a Roll), Grove Pastry Shop, and Starbucks.  In addition, appetizers made with ingredients from our Foundation’s organic garden will be served, courtesy of Chef Jesus Gonzalez.  The event will also include guided tours of the International Community Foundation’s organic garden and historic Noyes House, and an auction with contributions from Rancho La Puerta, Rancho Ojai, PRP Wine International and much more!!!

“It is truly a unique opportunity for our Foundation and our community in the South Bay, to have the support of such a renowned classical artist as Pablo Sainz Villegas,” said Richard Kiy, President & CEO of the International Community Foundation.  “We are very excited to share this enriching and educational experience with students, parents, and civic and business leaders from our local communities. We also greatly appreciate the support of all the local sponsors and co-chairs that are making this a great event!”

Mr. Villegas is considered one of the world's leading classical guitarists of our time. He was the recipient of the Gold Medal prize at the 2006 Parkening International Guitar Competition held in Malibu, California, and has performed in over twenty countries around the globe and on such prestigious stages as New York’s Carnegie Hall and Milan’s Sala Verdi. He also has performed as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Russian Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of Moscow among many others.

We hope to see you on Sunday, April 26th!
