Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental, A. C. (CEMDA) (Mexico D.F.): $40,000 to support the use of legal mechanisms for the protection of the Gulf of California; $4,500 to support the participation of three experts in the environmental review process of the Paraíso de Loreto development project, Loreto, Baja California.
Centro Mujeres, A.C. (La Paz, BCS, Mexico): $40,000 for the continued implementation of the "Hablando Claro" (Plain Talk) program, and to extend the work to the county of Los Cabos, and also continue training in the southern area of the county of La Paz. Corredor Histórico CAREM, A.C. (Tecate, BC, Mexico): $3,000 to cover additional expenses for the recently built media room in Tecate, Mexico. Ecology Project International (Missoula, MT, USA): $5,000 to launch the "Facing the Challenge" scholarship fund, whose objective is to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will work to protect the planet's natural resources. Fundación Albatros Media (Panama, Panama): $75,000 to expand TV and radio programming for “Al Natural” to the Latin American and Caribbean region. Fundación Avifauna Eugene Eisenmann (Panama City, Panama): $15,000 to host a year of environmental education activities at the Rainforest Discovery Center in Panama for public school students. Fundación Comunitaria Oaxaca (Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico): $68,000 to support the "Capacity Building and Technical Assistance Program for the cultivation of Amaranth 2008" in the northern sierra and central valley of the state of Oaxaca. Fundación Internacional de la Comunidad, A.C. (Tijuana, BC, Mexico): $11,000 to support the Centro de Atencion Integral contra la Violencia Familiar (the Resource Center for Victims of Domestic Violence) in Tijuana, BC, Mexico. Fundación Miguel Batista (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic): $110,179 to cover general operating expenses for the youth baseball league program, retirement home and community school "Colibri". Grupo Ecologista Antares, A.C. (GEA) (Loreto, BCS, Mexico): $80,000 to support the general operations and activities of GEA in Loreto, including enforcement and surveillance of the marine park, environmental education, and monitoring of development activities; $19,600 to support the continuation of the education program "Jóvenes Exploradores." Guardianes del Agua, A.C. (La Paz, BCS, Mexico): $5,000 to support a public outreach and media campaign celebrating and supporting the protection of Balandra beach in La Paz by organizing a public art project called "Art in the Sky". Iberoamericana-UIA Foundation (Tijuana, BC, Mexico): $8,390 to help cover the cost of the purchase, importation and remodeling of their new bookmobile. Los Niños del Capitán, A.C. (Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico): $60,000 to cover salaries for teachers, cooks, and administration staff at the daycare center. Mining Watch Canada (Ontario, Canada): $19,500 to provide technical and communications support to the Petaquilla campaign in Panama for 2008. Project Amigo (Colima, Mexico): $2,000 to teach volunteers about the environment, working conditions, and culture of local community members and workers in Colima, Mexico. Project Concern International (San Diego, CA, USA): $2,500 to support an immunization campaign to provide vaccinations and other life saving health services for children in need. Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (Panama): $20,471 to carry out teacher training workshops at the Galeta Marine Research Center in Panama. Utah State University (Logan, Utah, USA): $27,500 to provide charitable support for the establishment of the Gombe School of Environment and Society (GOSESO) in Gombe, Tanzania. « back to main |
