Staff from Medtronics Corp. construct beehives for a Mexicali community microbusiness through Los Niños' volunteerism program.

The mission of Los Niños de Baja California (Los Niños) is to promote self-sufficiency and community participation through educational and developmental projects on both sides of the border. Los Niños supports nutritional projects and family gardens in several communities and schools in the cities of Tijuana and Mexicali.

By supporting Los Niños, you will contribute to the following programs: Family Financial Security through Micro Credit Program:

  • $250 dollars will sponsor an initial loan for one woman to finance the start of her micro-business. $2500 dollars will sponsor an initial group loan for 10 women.

  • In 2004-2005 64 loans were made and all were paid on time and in full with interest.
    Community Leadership Education Program:

  • $1500 dollars per year will sponsor an individual to: enroll in a two year program to obtain their "outreach worker" certificate, through the Iberoamericana University, and complete their secondary education.

  • Currently, nearly 90 participants are enrolled.
