PRESIDENT FOX PROMOTES FIRST MAJOR TIJUANA PUBLIC LIBRARY

On June 12th, 2002, Mexican President Vicente Fox visited the Tijuana campus of his alma mater, the Universidad IberoAmericana (UIA), to promote the construction of Tijuana’s first major public library to be sited on the UIA campus. President Fox was joined by several ICF donors along with Jessie J. Knight, Jr., and Leon Reinhart, members of the foundation’s Board of Governors to encourage more philanthropic giving to the library project.

To date, UIA has raised over $680,000 for the library through the contributions of various donors. Additionally, in the past month ICF has received pledges and contributions totaling $32,500 towards the library campaign from Sempra Energy; John McNeece III, Leon Reinhart, and Augustine Gallego. San Diego State University has also made an in-kind donation of 600 volumes of social science books. ICF thanks all donors who contributed to this worthy campaign.

At present a total of $1.8 million remains to be raised to complete the library project. Interested donors are encouraged to visit the photo gallery for the library project on ICF’s web site or contact Richard Kiy at (619) 235-2300.
