AID PROVIDED TO AFGHANISTAN

The tragedy of September 11th and subsequent conflicts in Afghanistan are stark reminders of just how inter-connected and highly inter-dependent the world has truly become. According to Raymond C. Offenheiser of Oxfam-America, "the crisis in Afghanistan is far from over and humanitarian assistance, particularly food aid, will be critical over the next 18 months particularly given the country’s current drought which is prompting a rural to urban migration, causing greater instability in the country’s urban centers."

Sadly the war and on-going conflict in Afghanistan has left tens of thousands of children homeless or orphaned. In an effort to respond to this growing problem, ICF recently partnered with the Asia Foundation’s Give2Asia program to provide a $17,500 grant to Afghan Street Working Children and New Approach (ASCHIANA) for their work in providing directed food aid to children. This grant was made possible through a gift of the San Diego Foundation’s Feinberg Fund.

Donors wishing to provide additional assistance to ASCHIANA and other worthy groups in Afghanistan may contribute to ICF’s newly established Afghanistan Fund that will benefit worthy non-profit organizations in this worn torn region of world.
