FROM
LUCY
ICF's New Year begins with lots of energy and enthusiasm
to continue encouraging philanthropic support to our
various projects.
ICF's growth is well
underway. As our partnerships and collaborations continue
to be strengthened, we are happy to announce that this
year the Fundación Internacional de la Comunidad
A.C , based in Tijuana, Mexico, will be completed and
will begin its operations.
In addition, ICF
has started working on a new initiative, The Border
Environmental Fund. This project will provide funding
to grassroots organizations working on environmental
issues in Baja California.
This year will represent
new challenges and expectations for our organization
and we want to invite you to be part of our efforts
through your grant-making support.

LA
FUNDACIÓN
ICF's efforts to establish a Tijuana-based foundation
started with the initial funding of $25,000 from the
Walton Family Foundation in late 1999. The funding allowed
ICF to conduct preliminary research and planning of
the Tijuana entity.
A year later, the
Fundación Internacional de la Comunidad, A.C.(FIC)
was registered under Mexican law and funding of $75,000
from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation was secured
to expedite the staffing needs of the foundation. Once
the new staff is hired, ICF will work together to attract
additional funding for the FIC operational fund and
its re-granting efforts.
