Stewardship Fund

The Laguna San Ignacio Conservation Alliance agreements are the first legal land conservation structures in Mexico with integrated stewardship funds. The International Community Foundation manages a stewardship fund, which finances:

  1. A legal and ecological baseline study;
  2. Long - term monitoring activities regarding baseline, land use issues, environmental conditions and limitations, and;
  3. Conservation easement status and review.

The monies generated from each project site stewardship fund account will finance two site inspections per year, one report per visit, and one annual report. Each report will analyze key baseline indicators including, legal, environmental, land use, and easement status. All parties involved in the conservation easement negotiation will receive a copy of the reports.
