The Alliance approach is to:
- Establish open and participatory discussions;
- Iincorporate the ejidos into the Alliance;
- Ddevelop fair and effective conservation legal structures in partnership with the ejidos;
- Rresponsibly manage individual ejido trust accounts; and
- Mmonitor and defend the established conservation structures.
The Alliance's goal is to protect 894,035 of the 1.5 million acres of coastal ecosystems surrounding Laguna San Ignacio. The estimated cost of the project is around 9.9 million dollars.
