ICF Gifted Former Residence
Daily Transcript on July 18, 2006

A historic house in National City will soon house the International Community Foundation (ICF) and its efforts to faciliate bi-national programs.

The ICF was gifted the former National City home of John and Christy Walton. The Victorian house, originally built by Oliver Noyce in 1896, sits on 6.85 acres of property and features a large organic garden.

Pending approval form the Nation City Planning Commission and City Council when complete, ICF’s planned center will include a meeting facility and border-based learning institute for nonprofit organizations and community leaders.

The Walton Family home will also be the new office location for ICF, which is currently located in Sorrento Valley.

The International Community Foundation is a public nonprofit organization that works to increase charitable giving and volunteerism across U.S. borders to benefit communities and overseas charitable organizations, with an emphasis in Baja California. With assets of more than $7 million, ICF made more than $4 million in grants last year to nonprofit organizations in Mexico, China and Guatemala, in addition to other countries.
